As part of ongoing sustainability efforts, Barretts Self Storage will ensure wherever possible to recycle all paper, bottles, cans and furniture to work towards recycling and composting as much business waste from being landfilled.
The purpose of our recycling policy is to set up and maintain our commitment to sustainable stewardship through recycling, waste prevention, purchasing recycled content products and energy and water conservation.
When possible, Barretts Storage will place a preference on doing business with companies that demonstrate an excellence in sustainable operations.
Community Work
We also work with Aspire. For those of you who do not know Aspire, they are a social business that was Established in 2001 which focuses on helping people get back into work, whether they have been unemployed or have previously been homeless. They help with training and learning skills which will benefit them in the future, giving them meaningful jobs. Over the past 5 years we have donated unwanted furniture, clothes and even pallets. The pallets have been turned into furniture.
In 2011 / 2012 Barretts Self Storage won the Storage.co.uk Award 2011-12 for Environmental Awareness. The judges said the the following commenets when awarding this honour to us: The judges felt this Oxford-based self storage centre demonstrated a clear commitment to the environment by publishing its sustainability policy on their website.
Since 2012 we have continued to improve our recycling policies and have cut our landfill waste even further. We hope in the years to come that we will be even greener!
