YCT is a children and young peoples counselling and therapeutic support charity. YCT works across Essex, Herts and North London providing 5 - 25 year olds confidential, independent 1:1 and group support to improve the health, happiness and productivity of its clients, and also the people around them and their communities. YCT also provides counselling, supervision, training and consultancy to professionals working within the sector.
YCT is a values led, friendly, flexible and warm charity, despite being dynamic and ever growing. We have a strong reputation in the communities we work in for being professional yet adaptable. YCT has worked with many customers/funders for an extended period of time, and feedback has always been very positive. To inform our delivery, we not only have a number of impact measuring tools, but regularly consult and request feedback from all stakeholders which is discussed internally and actions taken. YCT also provides regular reports on delivery in return.
YCT is accredited with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and all of its contracted therapists are accredited with the BACP or equivalent (or apply within 6 months of appointment). This ensures the organisation works to strict ethical and quality frameworks, as does all its employees, volunteers and highly experienced and skilled contracted therapists.
YCT has great staff loyalty, and this is due to how we treat all employed, self-employed workers and volunteers. The organisation offers flexible working hours, support time for development, free training for contractors, YCT recognises achievements and mile stones and celebrates diversity.
YCT believes in keeping young people at the heart of what we do, with their energy, ideas and enthusiasm, plus giving as many as possible a step up into full time employment. We therefore employ two local Business Administration apprentices at any one time, and greatly recognise what they achieve for the organisation. YCT also provides student placements, finding that if we are able to support therapists early on in their career and give them the start and experience they need, they also become loyal, long-standing contracted therapists for us.
YCT has recently developed its waiting area, taking it from looking like a doctors surgery to one in which people tend to feel more relaxed, and that they are making positive steps towards better well-being. The sofas, plants and music coupled with the local colleges art work on the walls also make it a nice place for staff to meet or have their lunch.
