BFA is a network of UK footwear retailers, manufacturers, designers, wholesalers & service providers. Our focus is to promote & enable the footwear sector both domestically & across the globe through a range of activities. Members are small artisan shoemakers to the best-known brands in the world. Through our membership, links to Government & internal resources, we provide support, advice & insight across a wide range of topics, ensuring our members achieve their goals
BFA is in the process of setting up a Sustainability Working Group to support the industry in moving towards a sustainable and responsible future.
Today our challenges are:
Reducing water and chemical usage in the production of leather.
Reducing the use of pvc and other petrochemical based products in fashion footwear production
End of life solutions for footwear; numerous components in any one shoe make recycling a huge challenge
We still have a long way to go but we are determined to support this sector in reaching the long term goal of full transparency in the supply chain and fully sustainable products provided to the end consumer.
