Devonshire Pie Company is a family run bakery located in North Devon that produces sweet and savoury gourmet pies for the local area.
We support local business and use Devonian meat, clotted cream, custard, cheese, cider, ale, sea salt, and pastry.
We are a new micro-business run by Mike and Vee, we are committed to growing as a responsible business looking to benefit the local and wider community.
We work with Ecologi and the Orchard Project to plant trees and offset our CO2 footprint and have currently planted over 130 trees and offset over 3.5t of CO2. We have optimised our website so that each webpage produces under 1g of CO2e per page view, we also use green web hosting by Google Inc., who has been carbon neutral since 2007.
We have been liaising with Devon County Council to become a Biosphere Business Partner which we hope to achieve this year, we have endorsed the Devon Climate Declaration and committed to use our premises in an environmentally friendly fashion.
We have been assessed by Get Water Fit and have put various measures in place to reduce water wastage and are aware of any areas we need to focus on. Our electric devices are measured for output and we aim to use the most energy efficient products on the market.
Our company have been recognised by Surfers Against Sewage as plastic free champions. We operate using various alternatives to single-use plastics and have a long term goal to be completely single-use plastic free.
Our products are produced as locally as possible, if not from within Devon then within the UK which minimises transportation emissions. We have a goal to ultimately source our ingredients and packaging entirely from within the Devon area and contribute as members of Food & Drink Devon.
We have eliminated palm oil from our ingredients because we are not satisfied with the sustainability of it we have decided to provide alternative dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options for our pie crusts. We hope to expand our vegetarian pie selection this year. We do not add any artificial colours, sweeteners or preservatives.
We have sponsored Care for Kids North Devon as our charity of the year and will be participating as primary sponsors in this year's Barnstaple 10k, we intend to get involved with volunteering to marshal the event and to support them on an ongoing basis.
