Our Social and Environmental Activities

Message from Publishing Editor, Peter Richardson:

"My love, and appreciation of the importance, of the natural world was passed on to my by my father, an eminent naturalist and founder of the Colchester Natural History Society. BusinessTime in Essex's chosen charity, with whom we work very closely, is Essex Wildlife Trust.

Following a hugely popular sustainability feature run in the spring 2022 issue of BusinessTime in Essex, we will be running a regular separate supplement with the mag, called Sustain Essex, in partnership with Essex Wildlife Trust and LoCASE (Low Carbon Across the South and East). My passionate aim is to make Sustain Essex a vital platform for the promotion and encouragement of greater sustainability thinking among the Essex business community. If you are offering sustainable services or products, or you want to promote the sustainable measures your business is taking, we want to hear from you - whatever the size of your business.

BusinessTime in Essex is also working in partnership with Essex Wildlife Trust in organising Essex's first-ever Green Business Expo at Old Park Meadow on April 21.

BusinessTime in Essex tries to do all it can to save the earth's natural resources. We are home-office based and keep business meetings which require travel to a bare minimum. The magazine is printed using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper, which incorporates a Chain of Custody credential. FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of the world's forests. The FSC system provides an assurance that products such as wood and paper have been harvested in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. The FSC's Chain of Custody certification provides a way in which the material can be tracked from the certified initial source through the manufacturing process to the end-user. The ink used to produce the magazine is vegetable-based using soya oil in place of petroleum. The soybean is 100% renewable and can be grown and replenished indefinitely, which makes it one of the most eco-conscious options on the market when sourced responsibly.

Our policy with supplier payments is to pay all invoices within seven days of receipt as we appreciate the importance of prompt payment. Our policy is also to treat everyone we deal with the respect we ourselves would hope to receive.
